DEMOCRATIZING DATA Minimize
For as long as people have debated the causes and cures of poverty, the discussion has been largely fueled by anecdotes, assumptions and personal biases. Data, when cited, were often aggregated at the county, metro, state, or national level, giving little insight into the reality of particular communities. To bridge that gap, the Foundation for Community Empowerment and the Williams Institute make relevant data available to everyone.

DALLAS INDICATORS

Dallas Indicators is a user-friendly community website dedicated to putting data about Dallas communities back in the hands of community members—a concept we call the democratization of data.  Dallas Indicators allows nonprofits, grassroots leaders, and members of the public to obtain timely data about all aspects of wellbeing.  The data available on Dallas Indicators enables its users to confirm anecdotal knowledge, develop and target local solutions, secure funding, and make the case for broader policy changes.  Through the simple sharing of information, the Dallas Indicators Project creates a better community.  The Dallas Indicators Project is a collaborative partnership between the Dallas Foundation and the Williams Institute.
